MG has revealed the ZS EV facelift ahead of its launch in India. The MG ZS EV facelift is already on sale in international markets and will reach showrooms in India soon. The car looks more EV-like now as it loses the chrome grille which has been replaced with a body-coloured closed-off grille and sharper lines. There are other cosmetic and feature additions too. The outgoing MG ZS EV sold close to 4,000 units in two years, commanding the second spot amongst EVs in India. The ZS EV gets headlamps and tail lamps identical to the MG Astor’s.

Coming to the looks, the front fascia has been redone with the new closed-off grille and is flanked by sharper LED DRLs and LED headlamps. The front bumper has also been tweaked, while the charging socket is inside a much smaller panel unlike the outgoing one, and is body-coloured. The rear has reworked LED tail lamp housings and a new bumper. The ZS EV does look quite similar to the old one, but MG has subtly improved its SUV appeal with sharper lines and improved road presence. It also rides on new 17-inch alloys.

The images provided by MG only reveal the exterior of the car, but the car is expected to lift some equipment off the MG Astor including the 10.1-inch infotainment display and a new digital instrument panel. The cabin will see minimal changes otherwise, with small tweaks to the central console and climate control buttons. Confirmation on the interior spec will be available once the interior images are revealed.

In terms of features, the ZS EV already boasts of automatic climate control, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, 60:40 rear seat split, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, cruise control, auto headlamps and more. Although not confirmed, the presence of the front camera below the MG logo and the module just under the front number plate point to the EV receiving the ADAS and 360-degree camera setup from the Astor.

Technical details regarding the drive train aren’t available yet, but the current 44.5kWh battery pack is expected to be replaced by a bigger one helping improve upon its current claimed range of 419km. Performance wise the outgoing MG ZS EV had a 143bhp motor powering the front wheels. The motor is not expected to be changed or upgraded, but we will have to wait until MG reveals the official specifications for the car.

MG currently has two trims on sale for the ZS EV – Excite for Rs 21.49 lakh and Exclusive for Rs 25.18 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The pricing may see a slight rise keeping the added features in mind. Its only rival in India is the Hyundai Kona Electric which is also expected to get a facelift this year.
