Mercedes-Benz has launched the locally assembled 2021 S-Class at Rs 1.57 crore (ex-showroom,Delhi), making it up to Rs 60 lakh more affordable than before.The locally assembled model comes in both petrol and diesel engine options, among two broad variants: S350d and S450. The S400d, which was offered in the imported Launch Edition, has been discontinued.
The Mercedes S-Class is now priced from Rs 1.57 crore to Rs 1.62 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). It’s now a much more viable option against the Audi A8L and the BMW 7 Series.

The Mercedes S-Class comes in two powertrain options: a 367PS/500Nm 3-litre petrol with 48V mild-hybrid tech and a 286PS/600Nm 3-litre diesel unit. Both are six-cylinder turbocharged units specced with a 9-speed automatic. The diesel engine comes paired with a rear-wheel drivetrain, while the petrol motor gets an all-wheel drivetrain. The 2021 S-Class is 5289mm long, 2109mm wide, 1503mm tall and has a 3216mm wheelbase.

The Mercedes S-Class packs features like a 12.8-inch MBUX infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a Burmester 4D sound system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, four-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, and two wireless phone chargers. Passenger safety is taken care of by ten airbags, active parking assistance, a 360-degree camera, pedestrian protection, lane-keep assist, and tyre pressure monitoring. The sedan also gets lounge-like rear seats with individual screens, massage function, separate climate control zones, and ambient lighting. The rear seats also get a first-in-segment airbag placed on the back of the front seats to protect the occupants from head and neck injuries.
