Over 19,000 Kia Carens Booked Already, Deliveries Underway

The people mover has been launched in India at a mouth-watering introductory range of Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh

Kia registered over 19,000 bookings for the Carens in the country up until the price announcement on February 15. The carmaker surprised us with the pricing really; the Carens retails at an incredible introductory range of Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the people mover are now underway. 

The Kia Carens is offered in five broad trim levels: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. As standard, the Carens is a 7-seater, but there’s an optional 6-seater with the top-spec Luxury Plus. The Carens’ USP is the one-touch electronic tumble function for the middle row, allowing easier access to the row behind.

Notable features onboard include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, 64-colour ambient lighting, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, a Bose sound system, and a digitised instrument display. 

Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, disc brakes on all four corners, and tyre pressure monitoring. 

The Carens gets three engine options: 115PS/250Nm 1.5-litre diesel, 140PS/242Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and 115PS/144Nm 1.5-litre petrol. All three have a 6-speed manual as standard, with the turbo-petrol and diesel motors getting an optional 7-speed dual-clutch and a 6-speed torque converter, respectively. 

The Kia Carens locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga / XL6 and the Mahindra Marazzo, while also serving as an alternative to entry-level trims of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and the Mahindra XUV700.
