Yamaha is expected to launch the MT-15 in India next week with updates similar to the R15 V4. So before it arrives in our market, we list down all that you can expect from the upcoming and updated Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0.
New colours
While Yamaha revamped the design of the R15 with the V4, it is unlikely to follow suit with the MT-15 Version 2.0. Hence, the styling will remain the same, and in tune with the previous generation of the MT-07 and MT-09. However, to lend a fresh appeal to the new model, we can expect Yamaha to add new colours to the mix along with offering the customizable paint options.

Updated suspension
One of the biggest additions to be offered on the upcoming MT-15 Version 2.0 is upside-down forks with golden fork bottles unlike the conventional setup it currently uses. While the hardware could be similar to the R15 V4, it could be setup differently to suit the MT-15’s character. That said, the international model has been sporting inverted forks for a while now.
Yamaha fitted a quickshifter and traction control system on the R15 V4. Although, the new MT-15 is expected to skip out on these features and instead come with just an updated instrument cluster that could be similar to that of its fully-faired sibling.
No change in performance
What is not likely to change is the engine. It will be powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.2bhp and 13.9Nm. With VVA or Variable Valve Actuation tech available, the motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Revised pricing
The current Yamaha MT-15 is priced from Rs 1.46 lakh, ex-showroom. However, with the updates it is likely to receive, we can expect the MT-15 to get a Rs 6000-Rs 7000 hike in its price.
