About RC 390 2022
KTM RC 390 [2022] is expected to launch in India in April 2022 in the expected price range of ₹ 2,80,000 to ₹ 2,90,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to RC 390 [2022] are KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 & Kawasaki Z650. Another bike similar to RC 390 [2022] is CFMoto 300SR which is launching in October 2022 in India.
The all-new KTM RC 390 has been unveiled for the international market and the latest iteration of the motorcycle has received a major cosmetic upgrade over its predecessor. In terms of styling, the new model uses a redesigned front fascia that now features a single-pod LED headlight that replaces the projector-style units on the old model. Other elements at the front include fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors and an updated turn indicator setup.
The fairing gets a sharper design, and KTM claims that the new setup has been optimised for better wind and weather protection. It also enhances heat management by using a combination of inner and outer body panels. Other upgrades to the 2022 model include a 13.7-litre fuel tank, a redesigned tail section, a new design for the seats, and a side-slung exhaust. The new exhaust system is completed with stainless steel header pipes and an aluminium muffler.
Weight saving measures on the new model include lighter wheels and brakes. The new wheels are claimed to save 3.4kg over the previous generation. Moreover, the new ByBre braking system and the revised frame is said to save 960 grams and 1.5kg, respectively.
Internationally, the 2022 KTM RC 390 has been revealed in two colour options. The single-tone variant features a shade of orange while the dual-tone version uses a combination of blue and orange colours. The KTM branding and RC390 decals are visible on the fairing.
The revised feature list on the 2022 KTM RC 390 includes switchable ABS, a lean-angle sensitive cornering ABS, and cornering traction control system as standard. Full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour-TFT display are also available as standard while a Quickshifter+ comes as an optional extra.
The hardware, too, has received a substantial upgrade and the international-spec 2022 RC 390 benefits from 43mm WP APEX split functionality, open cartridge forks. These front forks get 30 clicks for compression on the left fork and 30 clicks for rebound on the right fork. The rear mono-shock is adjustable for preload. The India-spec model may miss the suspension adjustability function. It could, however, receive the Quickshifter+ as standard. The braking setup retains a 320mm single disc with a radially mounted four-piston-fixed ByBre calliper at the front and a 230mm disc brake with a single-piston fixed calliper at the rear.
The mechanical specifications retain the 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled setup. However, the 2022 model benefits from a new engine mapping and a redesigned airbox that helps it achieve a higher torque output than before. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the updated model makes 42.9bhp of power and 37Nm of peak torque.
