Check Out The Battle Between The Two Italian Retro Scooters

See how the two Italian retro scooters fare against each other

Italian manufacturer Lambretta recently launched the X300 in its home country. Let’s see how the retro scooter fares against its fellow Italian retro scooter, the Vespa Elegante 150 through images:

As its name suggests, the Vespa Elegante 150 is a classier version of the VXL 150. The scooter features a tinted flyscreen, split-seats with premium seat covers and exclusive ‘Elegante’ badging. There’s chrome on the circular headlight bezel and on the rear view mirrors too.

The X300 features taut and angular lines and is reminiscent of the retro scooters of the past. You have a rectangular full LED headlight along with a keyless starter system as standard.

At the heart of the Elegante 150 is a 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 10.46PS and 10.6Nm.

The Elegante’s displacement handicap is evident as the X300 blows the Vespa away with its 275cc, liquid-cooled engine making 25.14PS and 24.5Nm.

On the Vespa you get a monocoque frame with a disc brake at the front but it makes do with a drum at the rear. Even on the suspension front, while it gets a trailing link suspension at the front, the Lambretta gets a conventional fork. The retro scooter gets

11 and 10-inch wheels at the front and rear respectively with a 110/70 tyre at the front and 120/70 at the rear.

Underpinnings on the Lambretta include a semi-monocoque frame, 220mm and 219mm disc brakes at the front and rear respectively, along with a dual-channel ABS. You get 12-inch wheels at both ends. The larger 12-inch wheels on the X300 should translate to a bit more stability on broken roads.

Keeping true to its retro theme, the Vespa Elegante 150 just gets a semi-digital instrument cluster with a large speedometer dominating the display. But it also offersBluetooth connectivity for a touch of modernity.

The X300 too gets a big analogue speedometer with an inset LCD screen screen. Unfortunately, the X300 misses out on any sort of connectivity options.

At Rs 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Vespa is a fairly expensive scooter. If you desire classover gimmicks and value for money, then the Elegante 150 is the pick for you.

Retailing at 5,900 Euros (approximately Rs 4.90 lakh), the X300 is quite an expensive proposition, too. It has enough retro charm and performance to woo a variety of buyers, but it’s unlikely that the Lambretta X300 will make its way to India.
