Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has updated its website with the details of the Activa 125 Smart Key variant ahead of its launch in our market. The new variant of the Activa 125, similar to the Activa 6G Smart Key (110cc) version, will come with a keyfob that will bring new features to this 125cc scooter. Here we tell you everything that we know about the upcoming Honda Activa 125 Smart Key variant.

What features will the new Honda Activa 125 Smart Key variant get?
This new variant of the Honda Activa 125 will come with a key fob that will allow keyless access to the scooter. The smart key can be used to lock/unlock the vehicle, access the under-seat storage, and open the fuel lid. Further, this key fob can also be used to locate the vehicle. This can be done by clicking the answer-back button on the smart key, which will make all four blinkers will blink twice, thus making it easier to locate the scooter. Then, the updated instrument cluster will show additional data such as real-time fuel economy, average fuel economy, and distance-to-empty meter. Meanwhile, this variant will retain features such as an LED headlight, combined braking system, and side-stand engine cut-off function from the previous version.

Will the Honda Activa 125 Smart Key variant get styling changes?
The banner on the company’s India website suggests that the Smart Key variant will retain the styling cues from the standard scooter. Thus, it will come equipped with a single-pod headlight with a body-coloured cowl, apron-mounted front turn indicators, body-coloured front fender, and chrome garnishing on the body panel and apron. The colour palette, too, is not likely to change either, and the Smart Key variant should be available in the same options as the standard scooter. For reference, the Activa 125 is currently available in six colours – Rebel Red Metallic, Heavy Grey Metallic, Pearl Night Star Black, Strontium Silver Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Pearl Precious White.

Will the Honda Activa 125 Smart Key get mechanical changes?
The Honda Activa 125 Smart Key variant will retain the same 123.97cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor from the standard model. This engine is tuned to return 8.18bhp at 6,500rpm and 10.3Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm. Do note that the complete range will receive hardware updates to comply with the OBD2-norms that would be applicable from 1 April, 2023 onwards.

What hardware will the Honda Activa 125 Smart Key use?
The Smart Key variant, similar to the standard model, will be built around the underbone frame and use telescopic front forks and a three-step adjustable rear spring. The scooter will ride on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels that would be shod in tubeless tyres. The braking tasks will be handled by a 190mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. It boasts a 5.3-litre fuel tank and tips the weighing scale at 109kg (kerb).

Will the Honda Activa 125 Smart Key carry a price premium over the standard model?
The added features will affect the ex-showroom price of the Activa 125 Smart Key variant and it will be the most expensive version on the list. Currently, the most expensive option on offer is the disc brake version which is priced at Rs 84,916. We expect the Smart Key variant to arrive in the Rs 88,000-Rs 90,000 price range.
