    Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Latest Update

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is not the only pick-up on sale in India but it is the largest, priciest and most sophisticated of the type. While it’s built to haul cargo, the big V-Cross also plays the role of a lifestyle vehicle with equal ease. The D-Max V-Cross is on sale in India in double-cab form only and comes with a standard-fit four-wheel drive.

    Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Quick Review

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is a large vehicle and much of its length comes from the big loading bed. The loading bed is long, wide and well-shaped; and can hold cargo of all shapes and sizes. What adds to the V-Cross’ practicality is the fact that the cabin is also quite roomy, although the upright rear backrest is a spoiler. In quality and execution, the V-Cross’s cabin is closer to a like-priced SUV than a utilitarian pick-up.

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is powered by a 136hp, 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that feels flexible and friendly in the way it delivers its power. The engine is quite refined too and the easy-to-use 5-speed manual gearbox is nice as well. Buyers who want the convenience of an automatic transmission will have to opt for the new 1.9-litre diesel engine version. Despite a stronger 150hp on call, the 1.9-litre engine is very similar in character to the larger 2.5-litre unit. As for the the automatic gearbox, it is smooth and does the job. Shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive adds all-weather and all-condition ability to the V-Cross’ repertoire.

Ride quality is fine but there’s a marked difference in how the D-Max V-Cross behaves with and without cargo – the rear-end feels bouncy when not loaded. Unfortunately, the heavy and slow steering makes the V-Cross ponderous to drive in town.

    Isuzu D-Max V-Cross : Our Choice

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is a likeable pick-up. Of the three versions on sale, the automatic transmission-equipped High+ (Z Prestige) is the most appealing but it’s simply too expensive for what it is. Our pick of the D-Max V-Cross range is the High (Z). Safety kit includes ESC and also part of the package are leatherette seats, a powered driver’s-seat adjust, cruise control and a touchscreen infotainment system. You can also accessorise your V-Cross with aftermarket add-ons such as a hard-top roof for the loading bed.
