Citroen C3 Aircross AT introduced in 🇮🇳 India all that you need to know
The Citroen C3 Aircross is back again nearly half a year after it burst onto the Indian car scene and this time with a much-promised value addition. Yes, we are talking about a much-needed automatic gearbox for the budget Citroen range which has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 12.85 lakh. The automatic gearbox is available in the Max 5, Plus 5 and 7 seating layouts. It is a six-speed torque converter mated to Citroen’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol producing 110bhp/205 Nm. Automatic gearbox features
Creep Function-Yes, this automatic transmission includes a creep function, which is especially useful in bumper-to-bumper traffic. You put your foot on the brake, engage D, and then lift off. The car will roll on its own up to a speed of 8kmph, allowing you to coast up to the vehicle in front of you without having to repeatedly press the throttle.
Manual intervention
Yes, the gearbox has a manual intervention in the form of a +/- mode on the gear track. Using the manual mode allows you to intervene as needed and includes engine braking. At this price point and with the appeal that Citroen is aiming for with the C3 Aircross, it was unrealistic to expect paddle shifters as part of the package. It is also programmed to ensure that you do not shift at a low speed for a high gear, and vice versa.

5+2 versatility
The seven-seat option is only available in Max variants and costs Rs 35,000 more than the five-seater. It can accommodate two people at most, three if you’re close or adventurous. This converts it to a 5+2 rather than a dedicated three-row vehicle. The third-row bench seat is removable, and you can also fold up the second row. The progression of numbers is 44 litres with the third row up, 511 litres with the third row removed, and 839 litres with the second row removed!

Competition check
When comparing the top-spec Max 7 seven-seat model, which costs Rs 13.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the following three-row vehicles come closest in price. The XL6 and Carens are both mid-spec models with comparable feature lists and practicality offerings, whereas the Scorpio N is a base model with fewer features than the C3 Aircross AT. However, it only comes in diesel and manual transmission options.
