Luxury car demand in India has steadily increased in recent years. Luxury automakers are eager to meet
this demand with their offerings, which include high-performance sports cars as well as luxury sedans
and SUVs. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi have released new models for sale, while new luxury car
brands have arrived in India, providing more options than ever before. This article will go into detail

Mercedes –Benz

Mercedes Benz, despite being one of the most recognizable brands on this list, continues to make waves
in India. It is one of the world’s largest producers of luxury passenger vehicles. Since their entry into the
Indian market in 1994, they have maintained a fair share of sales in the luxury market niche. Mercedes-
Benz India reported its best-ever half-year sales in the country in H1 2023, with 8,528 units sold. The
carmaker’s sales increased by 13% year on year from January to June, compared to 7,573 units sold in
H1 2022.

BMW

Since its entry into the Indian luxury car segment in 2007, the German auto giant has been a fixture, and
it is known for its incredible driving dynamics. BMW’s success in India has been so spectacular that the
company expects to produce its one millionth vehicle in its Chennai plant in 2022.

It has an impressive portfolio of luxury vehicles in a variety of segments, including fully electric and plug-
in hybrid vehicles. They also have impressive performance M-series cars for driving enthusiasts who
want an extra shot of adrenaline. The stunning M8 Coupe, which has 630 HP of power, starts at nearly
Rs. 2.55 crore. The X1 is the most affordable SUV in the BMW lineup, starting at Rs. 45.9 lakh. The most
expensive model is the sophisticated XM plug-in hybrid SUV, which starts at 2.6 crore. They reported a
5% increase in sales in the first half of 2023, totaling 5,867 units.

AUDI

In the Indian luxury car market, the adaptable German automaker ranks highly. Audi is synonymous with
performance, high build quality, and innovative design. Audi debuted in India the same year as competitor BMW and quickly became popular. Over the last 15 years, Audi has managed to produce impressive sales and a great line of automobiles in India.

With prices starting around 43.85 lakh, the Audi A4 is the most affordable model available in the Indian
market. The price of the powerful RS Q8 SUV then rises to Rs. 2.22 crore. Their EV lineup, which includes
the E-tron, E-tron sportback, and E-tron GT, ranges in price from Rs. 1.02 crore to Rs. 1.94 crore. In
comparison, BMW has the i7 and iX EVs, while Mercedes has the EQS, EQE, EQB, and AMG EQS. Audi
even offers a performance line of RS models with unrivaled performance for adrenaline junkies.

JAGUAR

Jaguar, the iconic British carmaker, is another strong contender in the Indian luxury car market. The brand may not have as extensive a portfolio as the other brands on this list, but that doesn’t seem to bother the automaker. Jaguar’s philosophy is to create timeless models that combine beauty and performance like no other. Jaguar has been able to sustain well and make significant sales improvements since its takeover by Tata Motors.

In India, four models are currently available: the F-Pace, I-Pace, XF, and F-type. The cheapest Jaguar is
the XF, which starts at Rs. 71.6 lakh, and the most expensive is the 5-liter F-type sports car, which costs
more than Rs. 1.53 crore. The F-Pace and I-Pace are Jaguar’s SUV models, with the F-Pace costing Rs.
77.41 lakh less than the all-electric I-Pace, which costs Rs. 1.2 crore.

LAND ROVER

Land Rover, another well-known British carmaker, is next on the list, renowned for its wide range of incredible SUVs. Tata acquired another brand, Jaguar, along with the British carmaker, in 2008. In its Chakan plant in Pune, Land Rover currently manufactures the Discovery, Discovery Sport, Evoque, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Velar. This has aided in making prices more competitive, as evidenced by an increase in sales in India.

The Discovery Sport is the most affordable Land Rover, with prices starting at Rs. 71.39 lakh, and the Evoque is slightly more expensive at Rs. 72.09 lakh. The Velar is priced competitively at Rs. 89.41 lakh, while the Range Rover is the most expensive, costing Rs. 4.17 crore. JLR India also achieved its highest-ever sales in FY24, with a 102% increase.
