Skoda Auto is eager to relaunch the Octavia and Superb in India. Speaking with Petr Janeba, Brand Director for Skoda Auto India, he explained that the company intends to introduce both the Superb and the Octavia in India via the parts and components (CKD) or CBU routes. “Keeping around 70,000 Octavia customers and 25,000 Superb owners in mind, Skoda is looking to offer the latest versions of these cars,” Janeba went on to say.

Skoda Auto intends to exclusively offer a diesel powertrain with the Superb. At the same time, the Octavia and other made-in-India vehicles will continue to be powered by turbo gasoline engines. The new generation Kodiaq will initially be sold in India as a petrol trim, with the Czech automaker considering introducing a diesel version later on. “Skoda Auto could initially introduce the Superb via the CBU route, and then we will explore the parts and components (CBU) route, because the latter process will take around 18 months due to the emissions standard test.

Skoda Auto clarified that if there is demand for the Octavia RS, it may offer it in India. “Skoda is willing to bring back the Octavia RS, but only as a CBU. It will be a complete European car with European specifications because no homologation is required via the CBU route.
